Regular Season Round 5: Breakers - Kings 79-76

Important game to mention about took place in Auckland. Third ranked New Zealand Breakers (4-1) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Kings (3-4) 79-76 on Friday evening. New Zealand Breakers brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. American guard Cedric Jackson (191-86, college: Cleveland St.) stepped up and scored 22 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners and New Zealand center Alex Pledger (213-87, college: Belm.Abbey) chipped in 16 points and 10 rebounds. Four New Zealand Breakers players scored in double figures. Swingman Ben Madgen (193-85, college: Augusta St.) responded with 30 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international guard Aaron Bruce (190-84) scored 14 points. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for New Zealand Breakers. Defending champion moved-up to second place. Kings at the other side dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. New Zealand Breakers will play against Cairns Taipans (#5) on the road in the next round. Kings will play against the league's leader Wollongong Hawks in Gwynneville and hope to get back on the winning track.
