Bottom-ranked Sydney Uni Flames (0-6) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their sixth consecutive match to fourth ranked Canberra Capitals (4-2) 60-56 on Friday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 19-13. But Sydney Uni Flames won second period 14-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Canberra Capitals won last quarter 14-12. Forward Brigitte Ardossi (188-87, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Josep and Nicolas) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and swingman Mikaela Dombkins (181-86) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Canberra Capitals' coach Carrie Graf used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American swingman April Sykes (182-90, college: Rutgers, agency: Two Points) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds and international guard Alicia Poto (166-78) scored 12 points. Canberra Capitals have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 4-2 record. Sydney Uni Flames at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Canberra Capitals are looking forward to face league's leader Bendigo Spirit on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sydney Uni Flames will play against the league's second-placed Adelaide Lightning (#2) and hope to get finally their first victory.
