Regular Season Round 1: TRU - UNBC 67-69

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Wolfpack (0-1) in Kamloops, BC. Hosts were edged by UNBC (1-0) 69-67. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 0-0 record before this meeting. It looked good early as Wolfpack took an 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then UNBC had a 23-15 second period charge getting the lead and Wolfpack was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 67-69. Strangely Wolfpack outrebounded UNBC 49-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Sam Raphael who helped to win the game recording 14 points and 6 rebounds. Naturalized Salvadorean guard Jose Araujo (186-86) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Four UNBC players scored in double figures. Blaz Bozinovic answered with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 16 rebounds and Will Ondrik added 14 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Wolfpack. Wolfpack's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. UNBC keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 6 other teams. Wolfpack at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with 6 other teams. UNBC will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Wolfpack will play again against the league's second-placed UNBC (#2) to get more than just one victory in their record.
