The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Thompson Rivers as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Thompson Rivers defeated bottom-ranked UNBC in Kamloops 78-61. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The game without a history. Thompson Rivers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Thompson Rivers forced 22 UNBC turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of center Diane Schuetze (191) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 17 rebounds. Dana Clarkson contributed with 2 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. Emily Kaehn answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and Mercedes Van Koughnett added 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for UNBC. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 6 other teams. UNBC at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with 6 other teams. UNBC will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path.
