Regular Season Round 3: Zhejiang - Henan 112-89

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Henan Elephants (2-1) in Hangzhou on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Zhejiang Far East (3-0) 112-89. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Henan Elephants. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 2-0 record before this meeting. The game without a history. Zhejiang Far East led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Zhejiang Far East outrebounded Henan Elephants 39-28 including 17 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was Australian center Elizabeth Cambage (203-91) who had a double-double by scoring 46 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. Guard Binbin Shen (174-89) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Zhejiang Far East players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Jing Wang (188-84) who recorded 25 points and 7 rebounds and American power forward Jayne Appel (193-88, college: Stanford) added 22 points and 7 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Zhejiang Far East have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Liaoning. Loser Henan Elephants dropped to the third place with one game lost. They share the position with Shenyang and Bayi. Zhejiang Far East will meet bottom-ranked Beijing Great Wall (#12) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Henan Elephants will play against Bayi Kylin (#3) in Yinzhou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
