Regular Season Round 5: AO Ellinikou - PAOK 55-52

The most exciting game of round 5 in the A1 took place in . This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th placed PAOK (3-2) to leader AO Ellinikou (5-0) 55-52 on Saturday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But PAOK won fourth quarter 12-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American forward Breanna Brock (187-90, college: Missouri) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and the former international forward Evina Stamati (180-84) chipped in 15 points. AO Ellinikou's coach Eleni Kapogianni used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Maria Avtzi (173) responded with 13 points and 4 steals and Canadian forward Kayla Dykstra (188-87) scored 7 points and 8 rebounds. AO Ellinikou have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Newly promoted AO Ellinikou maintains first place with 5-0 record, which they share with Panathinaikos and Athinaikos. PAOK at the other side keeps the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Aris and Terpsithea. AO Ellinikou is looking forward to face GAC Eunikos (#11) in Liosa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. PAOK's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Thessaloniki Aris.
