Seventh-ranked Hokkaido L. (1-9) gave a tough game to fifth ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (6-4) in Saporro. The visitors from Osaka managed to secure only two-point victory 65-63. However their fans expected easier game. Hokkaido L. was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 29-26 second half run of Hitachi Sunrockers. International power forward Joji Takeuchi (207-85, agency: N.E.T.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. American power forward Jamar Smith (206-80, college: Maryland) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners.
