Regular Season Round 5: Leiden - Weert 76-64

Date: November 3, 2012
There was no surprise when 9th ranked Weert (1-5) was defeated on the road by third ranked Leiden (5-1) 76-64 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Leiden. Weert was better in second period 16-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was Canadian forward Ross Bekkering (203-87) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. International Worthy de Jong (194-88, agency: R.H.Consultancy) chipped in 17 points. American guard Bryquis Perine (190-88, college: Wisc.-Green Bay, agency: Court Side) produced 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import center Antwan Carter (198, college: Longwood, agency: Court Side) added 10 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Leiden moved-up to second place. Weert at the other side dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Leiden will face M.Magixx (#3) in Nijmegen in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Weert will play at home against Leeuwarden (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
