LNBP top team - Halcones UV Xalapa (19-1) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat tenth ranked Huracanes (9-9) in Tampico 84-70. The game was mostly controlled by Halcones UV Xalapa. Huracanes was better in third quarter 28-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Halcones UV Xalapa won last quarter 24-12. Worth to mention a quality performance of American guard LeRoy Hickerson (196-82, college: Cumberlands) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 12 rebounds and 7 assists and naturalized American guard Franco Harris (183-83, college: Boise St.) who added 20 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. Five Halcones UV Xalapa players scored in double figures. Halcones UV Xalapa's coach Angel Gonzalez allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American center Donald Little (211-78, college: Cincinnati) responded with 25 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Halcones UV Xalapa have an impressive 13-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 19-1 record. Huracanes at the other side keep the tenth place with nine games lost. Halcones UV Xalapa will play against Panteras (#5) in Aguascalientes in the next round. Huracanes will play on the road against Lechugueros (#12) in Leon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
