Sixth-ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (3-7) gave a tough game to second ranked Panasonic Trians (8-2) in Osaka on Saturday. Panasonic Trians managed to secure only three-point victory 77-74. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 7 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 3-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-74. The best player for the winners was American power forward Jameel Watkins (211-77, college: Georgetown) who had a double-double by scoring 23 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks. International swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) chipped in 17 points and 8 rebounds. Four Panasonic Trians players scored in double figures. Bahamas power forward Magnum Rolle (211-86, college: Louisiana Tech) produced 32 points and 6 rebounds and guard Takuya Tashiro (187-87) added 5 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Panasonic Trians have a solid series of four victories in a row. They used an opportunity after Toyota Alvark lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Mitsubishi Dolphins keep the sixth place with seven games lost. Panasonic Trians will meet at home Aishin Sea Horses (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Mitsubishi Dolphins will play against Tochigi Brex and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
