Regular Season Round 5: Alba Chorzow - Mickiewicz 87-94

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Mickiewicz and 8th ranked Alba Chorzow had identical 1-3 record. But Alba Chorzow was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Katowice 94-87 on Saturday night. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-18. But Alba Chorzow won second period 27-25. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mickiewicz shot 61.8 percent from the field. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Forward Rafal Sebrala (195-87) orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points and 7 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots). Forward Lukasz Kosmowski (196-83) contributed with 24 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forward Filip Czyznielewski (195-91) answered with 21 points and 7 rebounds and guard Krzysztof Morawiec (192-74) added 21 points and 5 assists in the effort for Alba Chorzow. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Mickiewicz (2-3) moved-up to eighth place in Group B. Loser Alba Chorzow dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Mickiewicz will face higher ranked HK Zory (#5) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Alba Chorzow will play against Sudety (#6) in Jelenia Gora.
