Very expected game when 11th ranked Correcaminos (7-13) lost to fourth ranked Halcones Rojos (15-5) in Ciudad Victoria 79-90 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Halcones Rojos. Correcaminos was better in fourth quarter 32-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Venezuelan power forward Luis Bethelmy (200-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 12 points and 5 rebounds. The former international guard Francisco Cruz (190-89, college: Wyoming) contributed with 11 points for the winners. Five Halcones Rojos players scored in double figures. American forward Rodney Alexander (201-87, college: Oklahoma City) replied with a double-double by scoring 26 points and 17 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Myron Allen (182-79, college: Lee JC) added 24 points in the effort for Correcaminos. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Halcones Rojos have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 15-5 record. Correcaminos lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 13 games lost. Halcones Rojos will face Barreteros (#9) in Zacatecas in the next round where they are favorite. Correcaminos will play on the road against Abejas in Guanajuato.
