The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Cognac as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Cognac defeated 7th ranked Saint Chamond at home 73-57. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-57. Cognac dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Saint Chamond's 20.
