Regular Season Round 9: Lapua - Nilan Bisons 79-82

A very interesting game took place in Lapua. It ended with only three-point home defeat of 10th ranked Lapuan Korikobrat (2-6) to fifth ranked Loimaan Korikonkarit (6-2) 82-79 on Saturday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. Loimaan Korikonkarit made 17-of-22 charity shots (77.3 percent) during the game. Loimaan Korikonkarit outrebounded Lapuan Korikobrat 43-28 including 28 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American forward Ryan McDade (201-80, college: N.Arizona) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 18 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Jeb Ivey (190-80, college: Portland St.) contributed with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American forward Chris Commons (206-84, college: USC Aiken) answered with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds and the former international Samuel Haanpaa (203-86) added 23 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Lapuan Korikobrat. Loimaan Korikonkarit have an impressive series of five victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Kauhajoki. Newly promoted Lapuan Korikobrat dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. Loimaan Korikonkarit's next round opponent will be KTP-Basket (#5) in Kotka. Lapuan Korikobrat will play on the road against Joensuun Kataja (#4).
