Regular Season Round 6: Handlova - Prievidza 79-83

There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Prievidza (2-3) beat on the road 5th ranked Handlova (2-3) 83-79. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Handlova won fourth quarter 33-29. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Handlova outrebounded Prievidza 35-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. Handlova was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. point guard Paul Gause (180-86, college: Seton Hall, agency: I.D.S. Law) scored 21 points to lead the charge for the winners and forward Joseph Harris (196-87, college: Co.Carolina) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was swingman Jason Davis (196-85, college: Sacramento St.) with 18 points and 9 rebounds and center Zack Crimmins (213-89, college: Columbia) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Four Handlova players scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Handlova and B.Bystrica. Prievidza will play against higher ranked Nitra (#4) in Nitra in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Handlova will have a break next round.
