There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Hito/Johvi (1-4) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Tln Kalev (1-4) 68-61 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Tln Kalev forced 19 Hito/Johvi turnovers and outrebounded them 43-30 including a 35-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American-Italian guard Marc Campbell (180-86, college: N.Carolina) stepped up and scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners and Nigerian forward Ike Okoye (206, college: Boise St.) chipped in 11 points and 15 rebounds. Four Tln Kalev players scored in double figures. point guard Sander Saare (182-94) responded with 15 points and 9 assists and swingman Markus Laanemets (194-92) scored 12 points. Hito/Johvi's coach Priit Sternhof rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Tln Kalev maintains eighth place with 1-4 record, which they share with defeated Hito/Johvi. It was Hito/Johvi's fourth loss in a row. Tln Kalev will face higher ranked Valga (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
