Regular Season Round 6: Pau Orthez - CFBB 65-44

Bottom-ranked CFBB (0-5) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 65-44 loss to sixth ranked Pau Lacq Orthez (4-2) in Pau. The game was mostly controlled by Pau Lacq Orthez. CFBB was better in third quarter 10-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pau Lacq Orthez dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to CFBB's 28. Pau Lacq Orthez forced 20 CFBB turnovers. Naturalized Senegalese forward Mariame Dia (185-78) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and Senegalese forward Awa Gueye (182-78) supported her with 12 points and 5 rebounds. Four Pau Lacq Orthez players scored in double figures. Even 6 points and 8 rebounds by forward Clarince Djaldi-Tabdi (183-95) did not help to save the game for CFBB. Guard Berengere Dinga-Mbomi (174-95) added 9 points and 5 rebounds. CFBB's coach Gregory Halin gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Pau Lacq Orthez moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Laveyron. CFBB at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Pau Lacq Orthez's next round opponent will be higher ranked LTB 29 (#3) in Pleyber-Christ and it may be the game of the week. CFBB will play at home against Roche (#9) in La Roche and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
