Regular Season Round 13: Denso Iris - Chanson V-M 60-61

Seventh-ranked Denso Iris (4-7) used its home court advantage to challenge third ranked Chanson V-M (9-2) in Kariya on Saturday. The visitors from Shizuoka managed to secure only one-point victory 61-60. However their fans expected much easier game. Denso Iris were tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Strangely Denso Iris outrebounded Chanson V-M 39-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of international swingman Saori Fujiyoshi (178-87) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Makoto Rin (168-88) contributed with 15 points for the winners. International forward Arisa Fujiwara (175-87) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds and center Yoshiko Morikawa (192-84) added 15 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Denso Iris. Chanson V-M have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 9-2 record having just two points less than leader Fujitsu RW. Denso Iris lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with seven games lost. They share it with Niigata. Chanson V-M will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Denso Iris will play again on the road against Chanson V-M (#3) in Shizuoka and are hoping to prove to their supporters that they can break losing series.
