Regular Season Round 2: Saskatchewan - Regina 65-79

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Saskatchewan (1-1) in Saskatoon on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by seventh ranked Regina (1-1) 79-65. The game was mostly controlled by Regina. Saskatchewan managed to win fourth quarter 20-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Regina forced 25 Saskatchewan turnovers. Center Brittany Read (188-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds. American guard Michelle Clarke (170-88, college: Purdue) contributed with 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Dalyce Emmerson (191) replied with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Kiera Lyons (178) added 16 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Saskatchewan. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Regina left bottom position moving up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Saskatchewan. Regina is looking forward to face Winnipeg (#8) on the road in the next round. Saskatchewan will have a break next round.
