Ikaros Kalitheas was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 14-12 charge of Aris, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 24 Ikaros Kalitheas turnovers. Guard Roula Mouli (177-85) stepped up and scored 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and the former international power forward Evangelia Kotopodi (188-87) chipped in 9 points and 11 rebounds. American center Jasmine Erving (187-90, college: CS Northridge) responded with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds and guard Dimitra Giannakopoulou (180-81) scored 8 points and 5 rebounds. Ikaros Kalitheas' coach Giorgos Leivadis tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Aris. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with PAOK and Terpsithea. Loser Ikaros Kalitheas keeps the ninth position with four games lost. Aris' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Thessaloniki to the arena PAOK.
