Regular Season Round 5: Hawks - Wildcats 100-67
Date: November 4, 2012
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Perth Wildcats (3-1) in Gwynneville on Sunday night. Visitors were rolled over by Wollongong Hawks (5-0) 100-67. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Perth Wildcats. The game without a history. Wollongong Hawks led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Dominican guard Adris Deleon (180-84, college: E.Washington) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). The former international power forward Oscar Forman (205-82) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Five Wollongong Hawks players scored in double figures. The former international power forward Matthew Knight (204-85, college: Loyola Mary) answered with 18 points and 6 rebounds and the former international forward Shawn Redhage (203-81, college: Arizona St., agency: Warren Sports International) added 9 points in the effort for Perth Wildcats. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Wollongong Hawks have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record. Perth Wildcats at the other side keep the third position with one game lost. Wollongong Hawks are looking forward to face Kings (#6) in Sydney in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Perth Wildcats will play on the road against Adelaide 36ers in Findon and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
