There was no surprise when 7th ranked Fileni BPA Jesi (2-3) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Novipiu Casale (4-1) 88-81 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Fileni BPA Jesi won third quarter 19-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Novipiu Casale won last quarter 24-18. They also forced 20 Fileni BPA Jesi turnovers. American swingman Rodney Green (195-88, college: La Salle) stepped up and scored 32 points for the winners and his fellow American import point guard Casper Ware (177-90, college: Long Beach St.) chipped in 29 points and 5 rebounds. The former international center Michele Maggioli (212-77) responded with 25 points and 9 rebounds and American-Belgian point guard Ryan Hoover (187-74, college: Notre Dame, agency: SportsTalent) scored 18 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Fileni BPA Jesi players scored in double figures. Novipiu Casale have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Giorgo Tesi PT. Fileni BPA Jesi at the other side dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. Novipiu Casale will face Sigma Barcellona (#7) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Fileni BPA Jesi will play against LeGamberi Foods Forlì in Forli and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
