Undefeated leader UCC Demons delivered the sixth consecutive victory on Sunday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Killester (2-4) 89-78 in Cork. They outrebounded Killester 41-27 including a 30-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when UCC Demons made 7 blocks. The former international forward Niall O'Reilly (196-80) scored 24 points and 8 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Australian forward Kenton Walker II (205-84, college: St.Mary's, CA) chipped in 22 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American point guard Lawrence Summers (175-83, college: Davidson) with 23 points and power forward Kieran O'Brien (203-82) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Five UCC Demons and four Killester players scored in double figures. Killester's coach Darren O'Neill tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. UCC Demons (6-0) have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with a perfect record of 6 victories in a row. Defending champion Killester dropped to the fifth place with four games lost. They share the position with UCD Marian. UCC Demons will meet Ballon Inter (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Killester will play against the league's second-placed UL Eagles in Limerick and hope to secure a win.
