An interesting game where host Hapoel Holon (#8) won against higher ranked Bnei Hasharon 91-79 on Sunday evening. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 12 points. Hapoel Holon shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Tyler Smith (201-86, college: Tennessee) who helped to win the game recording 19 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import guard Jerome Dyson (191-87, college: Connecticut) who added 19 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American forward Jumaine Jones (203-79, college: Georgia) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists and American-Mexican swingman Romel Beck (201-82, college: UNLV, agency: Interperformances) scored 17 points. Five Hapoel Holon and four Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures. Hapoel Holon (4-1) moved-up to second place. Loser Bnei Hasharon dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. They share it with Maccabi Haifa. Hapoel Holon will meet Hapoel Eilat (#6) on the road in the next round. Bnei Hasharon will play against Hapoel J-M in Jerusalem and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
