Regular Season Round 5: Kings - 36ers 81-88
Date: November 4, 2012
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when sixth ranked Adelaide 36ers (3-2) beat 5th ranked Kings (3-4) in Sydney 88-81. It looked good early as Kings took an 6-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Adelaide 36ers had a 24-17 second period charge getting the lead and Kings were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 81-88. It was a great shooting night for Adelaide 36ers especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. The best player for the winners was the former international center Luke Schenscher (216-82, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Priority Sports) who scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. International swingman Stephen Weigh (198-87) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. American forward Darnell Lazare (203-85, college: LSU, agency: Priority Sports) produced 14 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Ben Madgen (193-85, college: Augusta St.) added 20 points respectively for the hosts. Four Kings players scored in double figures. Kings' coach Shane Heal rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Adelaide 36ers moved-up to fourth place. Kings at the other side dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. Adelaide 36ers' next round opponent will be higher ranked Perth Wildcats (#3) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kings will play against the league's leader Wollongong Hawks in Gwynneville.
