Regular Season Round 4: Priolo - Taranto 68-69

The most exciting game of round 4 in the A1 took place in Priolo. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of bottom-ranked Priolo (0-4) to second ranked Taranto (3-1) 69-68 on Sunday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The guests trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 28-20 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Taranto forced 19 Priolo turnovers. Lithuanian center Gintare Petronyte (196-89) fired 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American forward Megan Mahoney (183-83, college: Kansas St., agency: LBM Management) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds. The former international guard Valentina Donvito (170-78) produced 16 points and 6 rebounds and Serbian guard Marija Eric (164-83) added 18 points and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Defending champion maintains second position with 3-1 record having just -1 point less than leader Umbertide, which they share with Parma. Priolo at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Taranto is looking forward to face Familia Schio (#4) at home in the next round. Priolo will play against the league's leader Umbertide (#1) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
