Regular Season Round 7: KR - Snaefell 93-67
Date: November 4, 2012
There was a small surprise in Reykjavik where fourth ranked KR (5-2) smashed much higher ranked Snaefell (5-2) 93-67 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by KR. Snaefell was better in fourth quarter 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They shot 66.7 percent from the field. It was a great evening for American guard Patechia Hartman (170-83, college: Georgia St., agency: Gamble Sports Management) who led her team to a victory scoring 28 points and 4 assists (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). The former international power forward Sigrun Amundadottir (181-88, agency: Promotex) helped adding 25 points. At the losing side American forward Kieraah Marlow (178-85) responded with 24 points and guard Hildur Kjartansdottir (183-94) scored 17 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for KR. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Valur and Snaefell. KR will face bottom-ranked Grindavik (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Snaefell will play against the league's second-placed Valur (#2) in Reykjavik and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
