There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Galil Gilboa (0-4) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Hapoel Holon (4-1) 86-80 on Sunday. Hapoel Holon shot 26 for 37 from the free-throw line, while Galil Gilboa only scored ten points from the stripe. Hapoel Holon forced 20 Galil Gilboa turnovers. Galil Gilboa was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. Guard Shlomi Harush (185-87) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized American point guard Zack Rosen (185-89, college: Pennsylvania) chipped in 20 points. Four Hapoel Holon players scored in double figures. American swingman Rakim Sanders (196-89, college: Fairfield) produced 19 points and 8 rebounds and the former international Dagan Yavzuri (193-85) added 16 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Hapoel Holon moved-up to second place. Loser Galil Gilboa still closes the standings with four games lost. Hapoel Holon will face Hapoel Eilat (#6) on the road in the next round. Galil Gilboa will play against Maccabi T-A (#5) in Tel-Aviv and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
