Regular Season Round 4: Maccabi Rishon - Hapoel T-A 63-80

Undefeated Maccabi Rishon (3-1) recorded its first loss in Rishon Le-Zion on Monday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Hapoel Tel-Aviv (3-1) 80-63. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Maccabi Rishon. The game was mostly controlled by Hapoel Tel-Aviv. Maccabi Rishon managed to win fourth quarter 26-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Maccabi Rishon to just 6 points in first quarter. Hapoel Tel-Aviv dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Maccabi Rishon's 42. The game was dominated by American players. point guard Demontez Stitt (186-89, college: Clemson) fired 19 points for the winners. Power forward Jeff Allen (201-87, college: Virginia Tech) chipped in 12 points and 9 rebounds. point guard Lazeric Jones (182-90, college: UCLA) produced 16 points and 5 assists and forward Julian Wright (203-87, college: Kansas) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Hapoel Tel-Aviv have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Maccabi T-A and Maccabi Rishon. Hapoel Tel-Aviv is looking forward to face Maccabi Haifa (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Maccabi Rishon will play against the league's leader GreenTops Netanya (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
