Regular Season Round 4: Guangdong - Shanxi 71-79

Everything could happen in Guangzhou at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Shanxi and 11th ranked Guangdong Dolphins had identical 1-2 record. But Guangdong Dolphins were not able to use a home court advantage and were defeated by the opponent from Taiyuan 79-71. Guangdong Dolphins were tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Guangdong Dolphins 39-26 including 25 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Spanish Maya Moore (183-89, college: Connecticut) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 16 rebounds and the former international forward Yu Zhang (184-86) supported her with 19 points and 4 assists. Even 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists by forward Dongxue Zhang (183-90) did not help to save the game for Guangdong Dolphins. International center Wei Wei (206-89) added 13 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Shanxi (2-2) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Bayi and Yunnan. Guangdong Dolphins lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with three games lost. Shanxi's next round opponent will be Qujing Yunnan (#6) on the road. Guangdong Dolphins will play against Henan Elephants in Jiyuan.
