Regular Season Round 6: Skallagrimur - Grindavik 86-93

The most important game in the last round took place in Borgarnes between third ranked Skallagrimur (3-2) and fifth ranked Grindavik (4-2) on Thursday night. Skallagrimur was defeated by Grindavik in a tough game at home 86-93. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Skallagrimur. The guests trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 30-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Grindavik dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Skallagrimur's 44. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. It was a good game for American point guard Sammy Zeglinski (182-88, college: Virginia) who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 25 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. The other American import forward Aaron Broussard (195-90, college: Seattle) contributed with 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Five Grindavik players scored in double figures. American forward Haminn Quaintance (201-85, college: Kent St., agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices) replied with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists and the former international swingman Pall Axel Vilbergsson (197-78) added 21 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Skallagrimur. Defending champion moved-up to third place. Newly promoted Skallagrimur dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with KR and Thor Thorl. Grindavik are looking forward to face league's second-placed Stjarnan at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Skallagrimur will play against Keflavik and is hoping to win this game.
