The game between sixth ranked Pioneros (14-7) and 7th ranked Fuerza Regia (11-9) in Cancun ended with biggest points difference. Pioneros outscored guests from Monterrey 107-85. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Fuerza Regia. The game without a history. Pioneros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They outrebounded Fuerza Regia 40-29 including 17 on the offensive glass. Pioneros players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American power forward Mike Williams (201-85, college: Cincinnati) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Jeremis Smith (203-86, college: Georgia Tech) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was center Lance Allred (211-81, college: Weber St., agency: SportsTalent) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and Nigerian-Jamaican guard Oritseweyinmi Efejuku (196-86, college: Providence) added 18 points and 6 assists respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Pioneros. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Panteras. Fuerza Regia at the other side dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. Pioneros' next round opponent will be higher ranked Toros (#3) in Nuevo Laredo and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Fuerza Regia will play on the road against the league's second-placed Soles (#2) in Mexicali.
