Regular Season Round 6: Crocodiles - Breakers 72-81

NBL top team - New Zealand Breakers (6-1) managed to deliver another win on Friday. This time they beat eighth ranked Townsville Crocodiles (0-8) in Wulguru 81-72. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 81-72. New Zealand Breakers outrebounded Townsville Crocodiles 42-26 including a 18-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Cedric Jackson (191-86, college: Cleveland St.) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 5 rebounds and 12 assists. New Zealand swingman Thomas Abercrombie (198-87, college: Washington St., agency: Priority Sports) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Gary Ervin (183-83, college: Arkansas) who recorded 18 points and the former international swingman Peter Crawford (193-79) added 12 points respectively. New Zealand Breakers have an impressive six-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 6-1 record. Loser Townsville Crocodiles still closes the standings with eight games lost. New Zealand Breakers will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Townsville Crocodiles will play again against the league's leader New Zealand Breakers (#1) in Auckland and hope to get finally their first victory.
