Everything could happen in Prince George at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked UNBC and bottom-ranked Trinity Western had identical 0-2 record. This time UNBC used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Langley 74-67 on Friday night. UNBC made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. UNBC outrebounded Trinity Western 52-28 including a 37-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for Mercedes Van Koughnett who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. Kady Dandeneau contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four UNBC players scored in double figures. Forward Holly Strom (180) replied with 24 points and guard Janelle Traber (175) added 6 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Trinity Western. UNBC (1-2) left bottom position moving up to fifth place, which they share with 3 other teams. It was Trinity Western's third loss in a row. They still closes the standings with three games lost. UNBC will face again Trinity Western (#7) in Langley in the next round.
