Regular Season Round 4: Western - Ottawa 61-77

Date: November 9, 2012
We should not miss the game where top-ranked Gee-Gees (1-0) against desperated Mustangs (0-1) where Gee-Gees won on the road by sixteen points 77-61. It was a key game for the top position in the league. It looked good early as Mustangs took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Gee-Gees had a 24-19 second period charge getting the lead and Mustangs were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 61-77. The winners were led by international guard Warren Ward (196-89) who scored that evening 24 points and 5 rebounds and guard Johnny Berhanemeskel (185) supported him with 20 points. Gee-Gees' coach James DeRouin used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by forward Peter Scholtes (196) did not help to save the game for Mustangs. Forward Greg Morrow (190) added 16 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Gee-Gees keep a position of league leader, which they share with 9 other teams. Mustangs at the other side still closes the standings with one game lost. Gee-Gees' next round opponent will be Lancers (#3) in Windsor, ON, which may be the game of the day. Mustangs will play at home against Ravens in Ottawa, ON and hope to get finally their first victory.
