Regular Season Round 8: Charleville - Denain 84-87
Date: November 9, 2012
Denain Voltaire can celebrate finally their first win this season after seven consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they edged much higher ranked Charleville-Mezieres (2-6)on the road game in Charleville 87-84 on Friday. Charleville-Mezieres trailed by 13 points at halftime and as many as 24 after three quarters before a 32-11 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 84-87 at the end of the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward John Flowers (200-89, college: W.Virginia, agency: KMG Sports Management) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import power forward Marcus Kitts (205-89, college: William & Mary) who added 12 points and 10 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) during the contest. Guard Fabien Calvez (187-84, college: Evansville) responded with 18 points, 7 assists and 5 steals (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Lithuanian forward Vaidotas Pridotkas (200-84) scored 16 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Charleville-Mezieres' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Denain Voltaire (1-7) left bottom position moving up to seventeenth place, which they share with Bordeaux. It was Charleville-Mezieres' sixth loss in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the fifteenth position with six games lost. They share it with Hyeres-Toulon. Denain Voltaire will meet at home higher ranked JL Bourg (#8) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Charleville-Mezieres will play against ALM Evreux (#4) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
