There was a surprise result in Logrono where ninth ranked CB Clavijo (3-3) beat higher ranked Palencia Baloncesto (4-2) 97-87 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by CB Clavijo. Palencia Baloncesto was better in third quarter 35-30. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Palencia Baloncesto was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was center David Mesa (202-80) who scored 18 points and 6 rebounds. point guard Enrique Suarez (185-83) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. Four CB Clavijo players scored in double figures. CB Clavijo's coach Jesus Sala used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. CB Clavijo will face Caceres Basket (#10) on the road in the next round. Palencia Baloncesto will play against FCB Regal II (#3) in Barcelona and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
