Regular Season Round 8: Bourg - Lille 73-64

We should mention about the upset which took place in Bourg, where higher ranked Lille Metropole (5-3) lost to eleventh ranked JL Bourg (4-4) in a road game 64-73 on Friday. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Lille Metropole. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. JL Bourg looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman L.D. Williams (193-88, college: Wake Forest) who scored 21 points and 9 rebounds. The other American import power forward David Monds (205-83, college: Oklahoma St.) chipped in 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four JL Bourg players scored in double figures. American Jason Siggers (188-85, college: Albany) produced 23 points and 5 rebounds and naturalized Congolese guard Loic Akono (177-87) added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. JL Bourg moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Lille Metropole dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. JL Bourg will face bottom-ranked Denain Voltaire (#18) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Lille Metropole will play against Le Portel (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
