Regular Season Round 4: UBC - TRU 75-71

CIS round 4 caused change at the leadership position. First defeat of league's leader Thompson Rivers (2-1) against top-ranked UBC (3-0) 75-71 was the most important game of the last round. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Thompson Rivers. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Kris Young (178-92) who helped to win the game recording 17 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. Guard Cassandra Knievel (180) contributed with 20 points and 5 assists for the winners. Center Diane Schuetze (191) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and forward Tracy Kocs (178) added 10 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Thompson Rivers. Five Thompson Rivers players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. UBC have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Lethbridge and UFV. Thompson Rivers at the other side dropped to the third place with one game lost. They share the position with Victoria. They were replaced at the leadership position by Concordia. Thompson Rivers will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. UBC will try to continue on its current victory against third ranked Thompson Rivers in Kamloops.
