Regular Season Round 8: Stal Ostrow - Sokol Lancut 72-63

Rather predictable result when third ranked Stal Ostrow (6-2) won against 7th ranked Sokol Lancut (4-4) in Ostrow Wlkp. 72-63 on Saturday. Sokol Lancut was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Stal Ostrow forced 24 Sokol Lancut turnovers. Sokol Lancut was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Wojciech Zurawski (199-76) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. point guard Marek Szumelda-Krzycki (193-91, agency: Promotex) contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Stal Ostrow players scored in double figures. Guard Tomasz Fortuna (186-81) replied with 14 points and guard Michal Baran (185-80) added 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Sokol Lancut. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Stal Ostrow have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with MKS DG and AZS Kutno. Loser Sokol Lancut keeps the seventh position with four games lost. Stal Ostrow will face league's second-placed MKS DG in Dabrowa Gornicza in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
