Regular Season Round 6: Toyota Alvark - Hitachi SR 67-55

Leader Toyota Alvark recorded the tenth victory on Saturday night. This time they beat 5th ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (6-6) 67-55 in Fuchu. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 67-55. Toyota Alvark dominated on the defensive end, holding Hitachi Sunrockers to just 6 points in fourth quarter. The best player for the winners was international power forward Kosuke Takeuchi (206-85) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds. American forward Jeff Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) chipped in 9 points and 13 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American power forward Jamar Smith (206-80, college: Maryland) who recorded 19 points and 9 rebounds and the former international swingman Takuma Watanabe (188-78) added 13 points respectively. Loser Hitachi Sunrockers keep the fifth place with six games lost. Toyota Alvark will face bottom-ranked Hokkaido L. (#8) in Saporro in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Hitachi Sunrockers will play on the road against Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
