Regular Season Round 5: Windsor - Ottawa 72-68

Round 5 in CIS means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Windsor, ON where host Lancers (2-0) beat league's leader Gee-Gees (1-1) 72-68 on Saturday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Lancers forced 23 Gee-Gees turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Gee-Gees helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was point guard Enrico Diloreto (185-90) who scored 14 points and 5 assists. International forward Lien Phillip (203-89) chipped in a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Johnny Berhanemeskel (185) produced 26 points and 7 rebounds and point guard Michael L'Africain (185) added 2 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Lancers keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Gee-Gees at the other side dropped to the second place with one game lost. They share the position with 7 other teams. They were replaced at the leadership position by Ryerson. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
