Regular Season Round 5: Laval - McGill 58-80
Date: November 10, 2012
The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of undefeated Rouge et Or (0-1) in Quebec City, QC on Saturday night. Hosts were rolled over by Redmen (1-0) 80-58. It was a key game for the top position in the league as both teams had the same 0-0 record before this meeting. The game without a history. Redmen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Redmen outrebounded Rouge et Or 39-28 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Vincent Dufort (195) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and American guard Adrian Hynes-Guery (190, college: Amer.Internat.) chipped in 15 points and 4 assists. Thibaud Dezutter responded with 13 points and 6 rebounds and Joakim Longpre scored 11 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Redmen keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Rouge et Or still closes the standings with one game lost. They share the position with UQAM and Laurier. Redmen will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Rouge et Or will play against the league's leader Stingers (#1) in Montreal, QC and hopes to get finally their first victory.
