Regular Season Round 5: Memorial - Cape Breton 61-107
Date: November 10, 2012
Not a big story in a game in St.John's, NL where bottom-ranked Sea Hawks (0-3) were outplayed by leader Capers (1-0) 107-61 on Saturday. The game without a history. Capers led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Sea Hawks' 34. Capers forced 27 Sea Hawks turnovers and outrebounded them 48-28 including a 19-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 20 passes made by Sea Hawks' players. The best player for the winners was American guard Jimmy Dorsey (188) who scored 26 points and 4 assists. Forward Arild Geugjes (203) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Four Capers players scored in double figures. Swingman Ryan Wood (191) produced 19 points and 5 assists and Alpha Kisusi added 10 points respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Capers keep a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Sea Hawks still closes the standings with three games lost. Capers will face X-Men (#5) in Antigonish, NS in the next round. Sea Hawks will play again at home against Capers in Sydney, NS and look forward to get finally their first victory.
