Regular Season Round 7: Nova Ves - Svit 93-85

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Svit (1-6) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Nova Ves (4-3) 93-85 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 12-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-85. Nova Ves shot 23 for 35 from the free-throw line, while Svit only scored seven points from the stripe. It was a great evening for American point guard Maurice Acker (178-87, college: Marquette, agency: Edge Sports) who led his team to a victory scoring 34 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds. Serbian power forward Aco Mandic (204-84) helped adding 17 points and 10 rebounds. Five Nova Ves players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Kenneth Henderson (201-82, college: Texas Arlington) responded with 25 points and 8 assists and Australian guard Anthony Stewart (196-70) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. Svit's coach Ivan Fulgosi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the third consecutive win for Nova Ves. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Nitra. Svit lost their third game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with six games lost. Nova Ves will meet league's second-placed Inter Bratislava on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Svit will play against Levice (#3).
