Regular Season Round 8: Souffel - Cognac 72-57

There was a change at the NM1 leadership position after last games. Round 8 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Cognac (6-1). They were defeated by third ranked Souffelweyersheim (6-1) 72-57 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Cognac. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Souffelweyersheim looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Senegalese swingman Mouhamadou M'Bodji (193-81) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 7 assists and Senegalese power forward Abdoulaye N'Diaye (210-84, college: USC) who added 12 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Four Souffelweyersheim players scored in double figures. American center Ian Caskill (207-81, college: JMU) responded with 9 points and 13 rebounds and guard Cedric Bertorelle (198-78) scored 7 points and 8 rebounds. Souffelweyersheim moved-up to second place, which they share with defeated Cognac. Cognac will play next round against Quimper UJAP trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Souffelweyersheim will try to continue on its current victory against eleventh ranked Saint Chamond on the road.
