Regular Season Round 8: Sparta - Black Star 104-84

Date: November 10, 2012
Undefeated leader Sparta delivered the eighth consecutive victory on Saturday night. This time they crushed 10th ranked Black Star (1-7) 104-84 in Bertrange. The game was mostly controlled by Sparta. Black Star managed to win second period 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sparta looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Black Star's players. Worth to mention a quality performance of the former international forward Larrie Smith (198-75, college: Tenn Tech) who helped to win the game recording a triple-double by scoring 27 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 steals and Dean Gindt (201-91) who added 29 points during the contest. Four Sparta players scored in double figures. American power forward Billy McDaniel (201-84, college: Ark.-Monticello) responded with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import point guard Terry Bryant (185-85, college: SE Louisiana) scored 28 points and 8 rebounds. Sparta (8-0) have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with a perfect record of 8 victories in a row. Loser Black Star stay at the bottom place with seven games lost. Sparta will meet at home Residence (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Black Star will play against Basket Esch (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
