Very predictable result in Bologna where second ranked Meccanica NB (5-1) defeated 11th ranked Viterbo (1-5) 84-68 on Saturday. The game without a history. Meccanica NB led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 24-of-31 free shots (77.4 percent) during the game, while Viterbo only scored eight points from the stripe. Meccanica NB forced 30 Viterbo turnovers. Viterbo was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for the former international forward Monica Bonafede (186-85) who led her team to a victory scoring 8 points, 14 rebounds, 4 assists and 8 steals. Forward Sara Crudo (192-95) helped adding 17 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side power forward Alessandra Boi (188-81) responded with 21 points and 7 rebounds and Czech center Martina Rejchova (195-83) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 14 rebounds. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Meccanica NB. They maintain second place in South with 5-1 record having just three points less than leader Ragusa, which they share with S. La Spezia. Viterbo lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with five games lost. Meccanica NB will face College Italia (#12) in Roma in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Viterbo will play against Calabria and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
