Regular Season Round 6: Townsville F. - West Coast 79-62

Sixth ranked Townsville Fire (3-4) crushed at home 7th ranked West Coast Waves (2-6) by 17 points 79-62, which is the biggest margin this round. The game was mostly controlled by Townsville Fire. West Coast Waves was better in second period 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American forward Kayla Standish (187-89, college: Gonzaga, agency: LBM Management) who led her team to a victory with 17 points and 7 rebounds. The former international guard Jess Foley (182-83, college: Duke) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Guard Melissa Marsh (209-85) replied with 10 points and 9 rebounds and center Natalie Burton (195-89, college: W.Virginia) added 10 points in the effort for West Coast Waves. Four West Coast Waves players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Townsville Fire moved-up to fifth place. West Coast Waves at the other side dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Townsville Fire's next round opponent will be Bulleen Boomers (#6) in Melbourne. West Coast Waves will play at home against Dandenong Rangers.
