Very important is a road loss of second ranked Adelaide Lightning (6-2) against ninth ranked Sydney Uni Flames (1-6) on Saturday night. Visiting Adelaide Lightning was defeated by Sydney Uni Flames in Sydney 94-78. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Adelaide Lightning. The game was mostly controlled by Sydney Uni Flames. Adelaide Lightning managed to win fourth quarter 25-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sydney Uni Flames made 23-of-25 free shots (92.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was American swingman April Sykes (182-90, college: Rutgers, agency: Two Points) who scored 26 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Kate Ebzery (177-90) chipped in 20 points and 7 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Five Sydney Uni Flames players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international center Suzy Batkovic-Brown (195-80) who recorded 23 points and 6 rebounds and New Zealand-Italian guard Angela Marino (166-86) added 19 points respectively. Sydney Uni Flames maintains ninth position with 1-6 record. Loser Adelaide Lightning keeps the second place with two games lost. They share the position with Dandenong R.. Sydney Uni Flames will meet at home league's leader Bendigo Spirit in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Adelaide Lightning will play against Dandenong Rangers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
